For sure that berbers are an indigenous civilization of North and sub-saharan africa whose existence dates back more than 20000 years called the Amazigh. Amazigh means the " free man". Berbers are the descendants of the pre-arab inhabitants of North africa. This plate that we are going to talk about it right now called berber design. The way we made this plate start from the raw material clay that we have in the city of fez. We brought that clay from a mountain closely to our area, we bring it in a very big shape, we cut it into small shape through using a hammer, then we put it in a hole in the ground called "Zubba". After that, our artisan starts kneading that clay through using his feet and hands in a very professional way, then we carry on that raw material to another potter so as to start shaping the plate with a very precise measurements, then we leave it to dry first under the shade, second we leave it to dry under the natural heat of the sun, third we take all the pottery to the kiln. The potter here use the technique of "Double fired". Clay is modeled in a first time and then cooked. It is then painted with mineral colours and baked again to give this wonderful shiny color. Culturally speaking, in Morocco we have three cultures: the arabic culture, the berber culture and the Jewish one. So, this plate with this interlaced design symbolise pure berber culture because the berber ladies were doing this interlaced like a tatoo in their front, noise and chin. Actually, what is more beautiful in this plate is that our skilful master has been decorated the item with metal, nickel and stainless silver to remain as a true masterpiece of the berber culture.
